Dear colleagues,
I would like to share a 'thank you' note from the Nepal community in
Hanoi, following the Nepal Earthquake Relief Concert, which took place
last Saturday in Hanoi. The message has been forwarded by Ramesh
(ActionAid) through Snigdha (CRS). Kind regards from Marko. See
below...
---------------------------------------
Dear Friends,
The Nepali community in Hanoi would like to gratefully acknowledge
your support to 'Vietnam for Nepal Earthquake Relief Concert'. We are
pleased to announce that the event was a success. We were very
encouraged to see many of you at the event. We would also like to
express our gratitude to those of you who could not come but
contributed funds and supported in many other ways.
More than 600 people joined the event to show their support and
solidarity. The UN Resident Coordinator for Vietnam started the
concert with her words of encouragement and support. It started at
around 7 PM Saturday (9th May) and lasted until 1 am the following
morning. We were able to raise more than 10,000 USD! The money will go
to Abari (www.abari.org), a Nepali organisation, to design and build a
bamboo school in one of the districts that is worst affected by the
earthquake.
With much appreciation
Nepali Community in Hanoi
