<div><br></div><div>MATTHEW TIEDEMANN has been Country Director for Pact in Vietnam since August 2010. Pact in Vietnam is implementing the largest non-governmental project under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) agreement, funded by USAID. Since 2005 this project, valued at US$44.4 million, has provided grants, technical assistance and capacity building to 36 organisations working on the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS in Vietnam. In addition, Pact has provided capacity-strengthening services to the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) to support them in preparing for their role in the Round 9 Global Fund proposal and has conducted a capacity-building workshop for the Vietnam Administration for HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC), also in preparation for Round 9. In his previous position as Country Director for Pact Malawi, Matthew oversaw a USAID-funded project, which helped in establishing the countrys first independent CCM secretariat. Until early 2010 the secretariat was housed in the National AIDS Commission, which is the main Principal Recipient of Global Funds in Malawi. He managed the process of finalising the terms of reference for the secretariat and the executive director with the CCMs secretariat task-force, prepared the budget for review by the CCM, negotiated arrangements for the secretariat to be housed in the Ministry of Finance (MOF) with the Secretary to the Treasury (who is CCM chairperson) and other MOF staff, and led the process of conducting three rounds of interviews for director candidates.
