[Ngo-admin] Home stay for VSO's volunteers on Sep 19, 2009

Dear all, 

VSO is an international development agency, which works through
volunteers to tackle disadvantage and poverty and help people realise
their potential. Every year over 1,500 professional experienced
volunteers share their skills with local partners in over 35 countries.
VSO has been working in Vietnam since 1991.

Each year VSO Vietnam receives 3 cycles of volunteers: one in January,
one in May and one in  September. When they first arrive in Vietnam,
before going to work, VSO Office organizes in-country orientation (ICO)
in Hanoi. After the first two week of ICO, VSO arranges one family visit
for the volunteers to Vietnamese families. 

The aims of the visit are to provide volunteers with a taste of life
with a Vietnamese family in an urban community context, and to provide
an opportunity for volunteers to practice using the Vietnamese language
in a natural setting.

The volunteers will spend a Saturday 9am - 5pm with the host families.
The host family should have children so that volunteers can experience
the typical interaction between adults and children in a Vietnamese
family. VSO will have a small contribution to meals that the host
families serve the volunteers.

Families will have opportunity to share Vietnamese
culture/behaviour/etiquette with the foreigners. Families will also have
good chance to practice English with volunteers. 

We are looking for Vietnamese families to host the home stay for 12
volunteers, this time the family visit is on Saturday 19 Sep 2009.
