CARE INTERNATIONAL IN VIETNAM


a Technical Consultant OPPORTUNITY FOR the Joint Advocacy Network Initiative
(JANI)

 

CARE International in Vietnam is looking for a Technical Consultant for 3
months from 1 July to 30 September 2009 to develop a handbook that contains
good practices and technical notes on 4 on-spot principles that will be used
by JANI partners as reference materials in their CBDRM programs.

 

1.   Project Description

The Joint Advocacy Network Initiative (JANI) is a joint project funded by
ECHO, coordinated by CARE International in Vietnam, involving a number NGOs.
The project's specific objective is to strengthen the community based
disaster risk management (CBDRM) advocacy and implementation through
effective networking and joint initiatives. 

 

2.  Scope of Consultancy work

*	Proactively liaison with Government agencies, provincial
authorities, NGOs and agencies and JANI partners working in disaster risk
management to obtain reference materials on the 4 'on-spot' principles. 
*	Analyze the obtained reference materials to extract key data and
information that reflect essential ideology of the principles
*	Proactively liaison with JANI partners to obtain their good
practices in disaster risk management. 
*	Develop the handbook that display good practices as per the 4
'on-spot' principles in disaster management - leadership, human resources,
means and logistics.

 

3.      Qualifications and experience

-         Master degree in development/social sciences/ journalism or
related field.

-         Experiences in undertaking research, and material reviewing and
documentation

-         Bright and innovative thinking. 

-         Experiences in negotiations, liaisons, and working with NGOs 

-         Proven skills in synthesis, analysis and writing.

-         Good understanding of development issues, including disaster
management and CBDRM would be an advantage. 

-         Fluency in spoken and written English, good computer skill.

-         Good facilitation and communication skills;  

-         Vietnamese and international consultants are welcome to apply. 

 

The total value of the contract must not exceed 6,000 USD including the
design work that can be outsourced by the selected consultant. For more
