VACANCY
01 Communications Officer (based in Hanoi)
East Meets West Foundation (EMW) is the largest international
non-governmental organizations in Vietnam. Founded in 1988, EMW has a
21-year track record of innovative and effective work in Vietnam and a vast
portfolio of completed projects. EMW projects and programs are known for
their high quality, long-term sustainability, emphasis on results and
significant scale.
We are seeking a national candidate to join our dynamic and professional
Communications Team to document and publicize best practices in supporting
people with disabilities and Agent Orange survivors in Vietnam.
Position title: Communications Officer
Working location: Based in Hanoi
Duration of assignment: 2 years with possibility of extension (based on
performance and funding capacity)
Direct line management: Report directly to the PR Manager
Key duties and responsibilities:
In consultation with the Program Development Director and Public Relations
Manager, primarily responsible for the consolidation, documentation and
dissemination of the best practices that have been implementing to support
the disabled in Vietnam:
* Consolidate the best practices through research over different
sources, database management, liaising with independent experts and local
government agencies in selection and endorsement of the best practices
* Coordinate with EMW's Communications team to manage the documentation
and production materials of the chosen best practices.
* Assist the Public Relations Manager in program development and
organization of dissemination and fundraising events targeting at selected
audiences.
In charge of other communications/PR work for programs and the organization
* Work in the Communications Team in planning for communications and
PR activities for the whole organizations
* Translate the communication materials including the organization's
website, newsletters, press releases and other self-published media
* Join in the organization of press conferences, receptions, ground
breaking ceremonies, workshops, opening ceremonies,...for all programs and
offices
* Support the PR Manager in the media relations activities:
relationship development, press database, press release development, press
visits, etc.
* Other tasks assigned by supervisor and senior management
Requirements:
* University degree with minimum 2 years of experience -
Communication and PR background. Experience working with INGO is an
advantage
* Demonstrate proficiency in using internal and external research
capabilities and in preparing in-depth analyses. Fundamental knowledge in
information management.
* A skilled writer who can conceptualize and produce communication
materials in both English and Vietnamese
* Be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
and Vietnamese
* Be able to master popular computer software applications. Website
management capacity is an asset.
* Good interpersonal skill: ability to work with mass media and a
good team member
* Effective problem solving skill and willing to take new challenges
in work, to learn and share experiences with colleagues, partners and
supervisor
* Be able to work under pressure and meet deadline
* Like social and charitable work
