 A Program Manager and a Senior PR & Communications Assistant

based in Hanoi

 

Organizational and Program Overview:

The East Meets West Foundation (EMW) is "the foundation for learning,
healing and health".  Founded in 1988, EMW has a 22-year track record of
innovative and effective work in Vietnam and a vast portfolio of completed
projects. EMW projects and programs are known for their high quality,
long-term sustainability, emphasis on results and significant scale. 

 

EMW is now seeking a Program Manager and a Senior Communications Assistant
based in Hanoi with the following main duties and responsibilities as
follows:

 

A PROGRAM MANAGER

 

The Program Manager is to manage EMW's GPOBA (Global Partnership of Output
Based Aid) scholarship program for upper secondary education in 11 provinces
of Vietnam part of the senior staff team and has the following main duties
and responsibilities:

 

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

 

A.     LEADERSHIP: 

 

*      Work under the supervision of Program Development Director to manage
the GPOBA scholarship program in 11 provinces to ensure a high number of
committed students.

*      Be responsible for planning, progress reporting, monitoring and
evaluation of the program.

*      Oversee and monitor baseline survey design and implementation,
administer indicator monitoring processes in accordance with program design.

 

B. COORDINATION AND RELATIONSHIP

 

*      Work closely with Program Development Director, SPELL National
Coordinator and other team leaders at EMW in implementing the program.

*      Build and nurture effective working relationships with the Schools,
Study Promotion Associations, local authorities and other related agencies
at province, district and community levels to facilitate the effective
implementation of the program for the benefit of the poor.

*      Interact with various Donors, report on all aspects of the program to
Donors and negotiate funding and planning of activities when requested.

 

C. MANAGEMENT, MONITORING AND EVALUATION:

 

*      Responsible for Program budgeting and financial monitoring, ensuring
program activities are on schedule and program expenditures are effective 

*      Prepare budgets based on detailed work plans and monitor project
budgets regularly (monthly, quarterly and annually)

*      Conduct regular monitoring of project activities to ensure objectives
of the projects are being met.

*      Be aware of and follow all financial policies and procedures and
liaise with the EMW Finance Department to ensure the integrity of financial
documents, procedures and reports.

*      Prepare monthly reports, quarterly reports and other reports upon
request.

*      Be responsible for reporting Program Activities and Progress to the
Senior Management Staff of East Meets West Foundation

Desired qualifications and attributes

*      Master's degree in education and/or community development studies
with at least 3 years relevant work experience in managing educational
projects at Secondary and high schools. Experience in working with private
education is a plus

*      Ability to think strategically, conceptualize new ideas, digest and
analyze complex information and present coherent work plan or implementation
plan 

*      Excellent reporting skills to donors, local authorities and senior
management staff

*      Excellent interpersonal skills to liaison with national and local
high ranking officers

*      Strong presentation and facilitation skills, including an ability to
build relationships and capacity with national and local partners

*      Possess a professional attitude and diligence, and be able to work
independently as well as work in a team

*      Excellent English speaking and writing skills

*      Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.

 

A SENIOR PR & COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

 

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

 

As a member of East Meets West's Communications Team, the Senior PR &
Communications Assistant will support the Public Relations Manager and
Communications Officer in:-

 

Deployment of communications and public relations activities for a media
campaign to support people with disabilities in Vietnam

This will include:

*    Organization of big events including variety shows, national and
international fundraising roadshows and meetings.  

*    Development and management of website database and content 

*     Development of other media and marketing products, including TV
trailers, reportages, liveshows as well as brochures, leaflets,
presentations, banners, etc.

 

Execution of communications and PR activities for the organization

This will include:

*    Translating and development communication materials

*    Organization of internal and external events 

*    Logistic arrangements for donors' and media visits 

*    Supporting the PR Manager in media relations activities 

*    Keeping track of local media coverage and prepare media clipping
reports

*    Other tasks assigned by supervisor and senior management

 

Desired qualifications and attributes  

*      University degree with minimum 2 years of experience in PR and
communications

*      Excellent spoken and written English and Vietnamese

*      A skilled writer who can conceptualize and produce communication
materials in both English and Vietnamese

*      Be able to master popular computer software applications. Website
management capacity is desirable

*      Good interpersonal skill: ability to work with mass media and a good
team member

*      Effective problem solving skills and willing to take on new
challenges, to learn and share experiences with colleagues, partners and
supervisors

*       Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a professional
manner

 

Salary and benefits will be determined based on experience and
qualifications.
