Message from UNDP Vietnam Procurement Unit

Dear colleagues and friends,

UNDP Viet Nam seeks 01 International consultant for Dioxin remediation technologies Review for the Project entitled "Environmental Remediation of Dioxin Contaminated Hotspots in Viet Nam".

In June 2010, the GEF/UNDP Project entitled "Environmental Remediation of Dioxin Contaminated Hotspots in Viet Nam" was signed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE). It is designed for the period of 4 years, to help Viet Nam "to minimise disruption of ecosystems and health risks for people from environmental releases of TCDD contaminated hotspots" and to contribute to the broader Goal, which is "to overcome the consequences of toxic chemicals used in the war in Viet Nam".

Since a review on dioxin remediation technologies was done for Vietnam in 2008, new information on dioxin remediation may emerge. The objective of this assignment is to update the 2008 review report to make sure that new commercialized /promised technologies and/or progress of existing technologies are updated and to recommend to Vietnam partners most appropriate technologies for dioxin remediation.

Review is mainly done based on desk study. Under the scope of this assignment, the consultant shall

- Review and update technologies that are most used for dioxin remediation in the world, with specifically focus on commercially licensed and promised     technology. The review includes scope of application, costs and benefits analysis, efficiency and effectiveness; advantage as well as disadvantages of each    technology, environmental implication; limitation and requirement for application of each technology.
- Analyze risks associated to each technology.
- Review current situation of dioxin remediation in Vietnam and level of dioxin contamination in hot spots, and
- Recommend technologies that are appropriate for dioxin remediation in Vietnam.
