Church World Service (CWS) is recruiting a national Country Representative
to lead development projects in Thai Nguyen and Lai Chau provinces, and to
expand the agency's portfolio.  Key requirements include significant
experience and recognized leadership and management achievement in
development and/or humanitarian work in Vietnam, plus excellent spoken and
written English.

Title:                          Vietnam Country Representative (national
position)                                           

Location:                    Hanoi, with significant in-country travel to
remote locations

Supervisor:                 Southeast Asia Regional Coordinator (RC)
(Bangkok-based)

 

Scope:                    CWS is an international non-government
organization (NGO) headquartered in the US and working worldwide in
humanitarian and development initiatives (www.cwsglobal.org).  CWS has
worked in Vietnam periodically since 1954, and currently partners with
communities and the Government to implement privately-funded rural
development projects focused on household and community sanitation,
including basic health and hygiene IEC activities, as well as basic
education (infrastructure, classroom support) in Thai Nguyen and Lai Chau
provinces. The Country Representative will work to ensure community,
Government and donor satisfaction with current projects and to build the CWS
country program in the current locations and, perhaps, others, in line with
community needs and donor priorities.

 

Job purpose:          To lead CWS work in Vietnam, particularly through (1)
excellent project design and program development that is responsive to
communities' needs and donor priorities and (2) strong leadership and
management of development initiatives as well as humanitarian (emergency
response/recovery) when needed.  Also, support project implementation
(operations) staff to ensure strong, positive CWS representation with
communities and Government, plus other NGOs and donors.

 

Job summary:        Work with Vietnamese and expatriate colleagues,
including regional and US headquarters colleagues, to ensure (1) high
quality program
a design / proposal development and budgeting for fundraising, and (2)
excellent program / project / activity implementation and reporting.
