Subject: Government Decree on Management of Mine Action in Vietnam
Importance: High
Dear LWG members,
As you know, the 504 standing Committee has worked on a new Government
Decree on management of mine action in Vietnam, to replace the Decision 96
issued by the Prime Minister in 2006. The 1st draft of the Decree is
completed and attached to this email. It is expected that Decree will be
finalized and issued by Prime Minister by end of this year.
504 Office/VNMAC plan to organize a workshop to get comments from national
and international stakeholders on this draft version. The tentative date for
the workshop is 16th November. VNMAC would be able to confirm the date and
list of participants by end of this week. It is expected that
representatives of the LWG will also be invited to attend the workshop.
Bekim and I after discussing with Gus and VNMAC would like to propose as
follows:
- The member organizations of LWG to review the draft Decree and
provide comments through email by 14 November.
- LWG members to meet at 2pm on 14th November at PACCOM office at
105A Quan Thanh street to consolidate and agree upon all the comments of the
member organizations and to nominate 02-03 representatives of LWG to attend
the 504 office/VNMAC workshop. For those who cannot attend the meeting, pls.
send your comments through email.
We thank you in advance for your support and cooperation and look forward to
receiving your feedback.
With Best Regards,
Thu Ha
