Among other concerns for ordinary people in Vietnam, the TPP would have a
major impact on agricultural seeds and commodities, making introduction of
GMO seeds and crops into Vietnam much easier, as well as limiting consumer
choices and increasing prices of drugs as huge global corporations come to
dominate the market.

US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker led a business delegation to meet
with Vietnamese leaders and her counterpart in Hanoi on Monday.

Pritzker met with Vietnam's President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister
Nguyen Tan Dung and Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang during her
one-day visit to push negotiations for the Trans Pacific Partnership, a
12-nation trade pact.

Traveling with her were the CEOs and board chairpersons of the US' leading
business groups ACE, Qualcomm and Mead Johnson Nutrition, who also met with
officials from the finance, investment ministries and the Vietnam Chamber
of Commerce and Industry.

Both sides also discussed measures to enhance bilateral trade as the
countries prepare to mark 20 years of normalized relations next year.

Alexander Feldman, President & CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council, told
Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that Pritzker's visit also aims to underscore
the confidence of the US business community in the economic development
potential in Southeast Asia and reiterate US companies' commitments in the
region.

The delegation will continue on to the Philippines after departing Vietnam.
