Subject: Energy Call by EPSRC/DFID/DECC

Dear All

I have been working with Karen Wilson from Cardiff for the past months and I am pleased that she just got the news on the outcome of the ASEAN/FP7 water pollution proposals. Her collaboration with SIRIM (Malaysia), MTEC (Thailand) and VAST-IMS (Vietnam) was successful. I will try to follow up with Karen to provide us with more information.

On a separate matter, there was a recent call from the EPSRC. Karen Wilson hopes to put in an EOI to attend the workshop. Although it is open to all developing countries I am not sure whether this will end up with an African bias. Karen has some collaborators in Tanzania and Ghana that are interested in putting together a biofuels related proposal, and there may well be overlap between what is being done in another rice-straw biorefinery project leaded by Simon McQueen, funded by BBSRC and MOST, Vietnam, but with more of a thermochemical focus.

Are you aware of any groups from ASEAN countries that may be interested in attending this event and possible keen to join in the bid proposal which Karen will be leading on?

Hi Mark

This is something we can capture in our next quarter matrix.

Best wishes

Chris
