Dear Dr. Bui,

It was great to meet you in Hanoi.  I thoroughly enjoyed the evening we had
at Lan Chin. A great spot.

I wanted to follow up on a couple of things. First the EURAXESS Science
Slam we discussed.

EURAXESS Links ASEAN has recently launched the pre-selection stage for
*“EURAXESS
Science Slam ASEAN 2013”.* The event invites young researchers (current PhD
students OR Post-docs who completed their PhD no earlier than 2008) of any
nationality and any discipline currently residing in ASEAN to submit a 3
minute video where they present their research project in an entertaining
and accessible manner.  *The deadline for submission is 18 August 2013.*

A jury will then select 5 finalists who will be invited to compete in the
finals to be held in Singapore (Paulaner Brauhaus @ Millenia Walk) in front
of a live audience on 25 September (6.30 pm kick-off).

This Science Slam is also being organised by EURAXESS in China, Japan,
India, the US, and Brazil. The winner of the ASEAN competition will be
crowned EURAXESS Links Science Slammer ASEAN 2013 and wins a free trip to
Brussels to participate in the EURAXESS Voice of the Researcher conference
(22 November 2013).  He/she will be joined by the winners of the other
EURAXESS events.

Bui  - I realise that time is short but but I would be very grateful if you
could circulate this information through your network  I would very much
like to see some submissions from Vietnam.

We also discussed how to give greater profile to Vietnam researchers and
research institutions. If you have interesting stories
or institutional  profiles, please do send them to me and I will place them
in the newsletter and on the website.

Though it is still to early to being establishing EURAXESS representation
in all of the ASEAN countries, I will keep our discussion in mind as we
move ahead.

Finally I am attaching a one pager on EURAXESS LInks ASEAN which I am
hoping you can also circulate to your colleagues and enourgae them to join
the EURAXESS network  which is free of charge.
