CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE
IID CHALLENGE GRANTS PROGRAM

------------------------------------------------------------

**
The Universities and Councils Network on Innovation for Inclusive Development in Southeast Asia (UNIID-SEA), together with its partner research councils in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, is launching a new grants program called the “IID Challenge Grants Program: Mainstreaming IID Research in Southeast Asia.”

This program will be awarding grants of up to USD 15,000 to collaborative and action-research projects that seek solutions to critical poverty and exclusion issues, and facilitate the engagement of poor and marginalized groups/ communities in addressing these issues in the target countries: Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

IID is broadly defined as “innovation that aims to reduce poverty and enables as many groups of people, especially the poor and marginalized, to participate in decision-making, create and actualize opportunities, and share the benefits of development” (IID Program Prospectus, IDRC, 2011).

The IID Challenge Grants Program not only aims to Introduce IID as a research theme and strategy to achieve development goals and targets but also to enable local communities and community-based groups (e.g. POs, cooperatives) and intermediaries such as local government agencies, private sector, academe and civil society organizations (e.g. NGOs and development-oriented groups) to be co-proponents of a project.
