Ceremony
To: CAN Comms <can-comms at climateaction.network>

FYI
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has invited Heads of State and Government
to come to New York on 22 April to sign the historic Paris Climate Change
Agreement clinched last year.
Under the agreement, 195 nations have agreed to combat climate change and
to unleash actions and investment towards a low carbon, resilient and
sustainable future.
Ahead of the signing event, the UNFCCC secretariat is launching a social
media campaign to build support for climate action, not least from civil
society.
The campaign starts on 10 February, and runs to 28 February. It is very
simple, and consists of leaders – from government leaders at all levels to
heads of multilateral organizations to leaders of business and civil
society, along with citizens - to record max 30-second videos on their
smartphones, pads, notebooks or desktop computers which they share on
Twitter or Facebook. 30 Seconds is the maximum length of a “native” (so
embedded) video on Twitter. The maximum length on Instagram is 15 seconds.
The format can be quite casual - what counts is that the message is
powerful and compelling.
We’d ask you to help promote the campaign using the digital assets on a
Trello board we have prepared. Please note that the link in the draft
tweets below goes to a newsroom article that is backdated, and will be
published with the correct date on Wednesday.
Once participants have recorded their videos, they can post them on social
media using the hashtags and#ParisAgreement and #Means4Me. Participants
can build sentences such as : The #ParisAgreement #Means4Me: Secure jobs”
or “The #ParisAgreement #Means4Me: a safer world” to use as text to post
together with the video.
At the end of their video, or in the text blurb, users can ask someone
they know to make a similar recording.
The best videos will be shared via UNFCCC media channels and compiled in
collection of the best short videos in the UNFCCC Newsroom.
Suggested messages to go with the Twitter cards are:
The #ParisAgreement was an historic event. Time now to sign and implement
it! http://bit.ly/Means4You #Means4Me
In just 30 seconds, tell the world what the #ParisAgreement means for you
http://bit.ly/Means4You#Means4Me
Ready for #climateaction? Tell the world what the #ParisAgreement means
for you http://bit.ly/Means4You #Means4Me
At #COP21, world leaders clinched the #ParisAgreement. You can help make
it workhttp://bit.ly/Means4You #Means4Me
Suggested texts to go with the Facebook cards are:

Agreement clinched last year. In a video you recorded on your smartphone,
tell us what the Paris Agreement means for you bit.ly/Means4You
The UN’s top climate change official Christiana Figueres, the Paris
Climate Change Agreement means a resilient, low-emission and sustainable
future full of opportunity for her two daughters, for every young person
today and for generations to come. Tell us what the Paris Agreement
