ADAPTATION FINANCE TRACKING

 

SRD would like to inform you all about the initiative on Adaptation Finance Tracking led by CARE Netherlands and CARE Denmark. This initiative covers 6 countries which are Philippines, Nepal, Uganda, Ghana, Ethiopia and Viet Nam. In Viet Nam, SRD cooperates with CARE Int’l in Viet Nam to conduct this tracking. The objectives of the initiative are to:
Check if OECD donors’ reporting of climate finance for adaptation activities in selected developing countries reflects reality on the ground.
Investigate if the supported adaptation activities are targeting the poorest and most climate vulnerable parts of the population, and if the activities are gender sensitive.
Develop a methodology that makes it easier for civil society organizations (CSO’s) in other countries to perform similar analysis.
This project responds to the current situation in which, despite the increased emphasis on climate change, little information exists as to the status of adaptation finance at the recipient country level. How much finance for adaptation is available within developing countries? Who gets the money? How is it used? It would be a very relevant complementary effort for CSO networks to examine their government's budgetary system, procedures and coding on how climate change policies are resourced and financed.
