[Ngo Climate Change] Invitation to WS "From Risk to Resilience: Strategic and Practical Approach on Climate Risk Assessment"

Dear Sir/ Madam,



Climate change is increasingly impacting on people’s lives and disrupting
the national economy of Vietnam. Consequently, climate change may reduce
annual GDP by 5 percent by 2050 and 5-12 percent by 2100 under different
climate change scenarios (GIZ, 2022). The question arises how Vietnam will
respond: with business as usual or by investing in effective adaptation
measures and in innovations that come with it, to unlock new opportunities
and secure long-term economic development and wellbeing.



The CSI project “Enhancing Climate Services for Infrastructure Investments
(CSI)” and the CRED project “Policy Advice for Climate Resilient Economic
Development” funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment,
Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety have contributed to the assessments
of climate change risk and effectiveness of adaptation interventions at
project, local and national levels. The results of the two projects shall
be disseminated and discussed at the Adaptation Workshop titled “From Risk
to Resilience: Strategic and Practical Approach on Climate Risk Assessment”
(agenda attached). The WS is being organized by the German Development
Cooperation (GIZ).
