The Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam, HueUniversity of Agriculture and Forestry (HUAF), Vietnam and Leibniz UniversityHannover (LUH), Germany invite applications for the position of a  National ResearchData Collection Center Manager (m/f) The position is central for the implementation of along-term data collection project financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG).In the context of this project, surveys of rural households and domesticmigrants will be conducted annually in three provinces in Vietnam, namely DakLak, Ha Tinh and Thua Thien Hue.  TasksThe National Research Data Collection Center Managerwill lead the collection, cleaning and management of panel data from 2016 to2018. Her/his tasks include the overall management of the National Research DataCollection Center at HUAF where she/he will be supported by an administrativeassistant hired by the project. A major task is the organisation of village andhousehold level surveys in the three provinces including the recruitment andtraining of enumerators. The NationalResearch Data Collection Center Manager will cooperate closely with PhD studentsfrom Germany who will work with this project database. The Center Manager will alsobe responsible for the regular data transfer to the central database at theInstitute of Development and Agricultural Economics at Leibniz UniversityHannover, Germany. She/he will also participate in supporting researchactivities in Vietnam using the panel data. The National Research DataCollection Center Manager may also occasionally give lectures in the academiccourse program of HUAF. She/he will be supported by senior researchers from LUHin all her/his activities related to the project.     QualificationsThe successful candidate will possess a PhD in agricultural economics, economics,other social sciences or agriculture with a strong socioeconomic orientation. Candidateswith Master degree and exceptional experiences could be considered. Extensivefield experience in the conduct of socio-economic household surveys in Vietnamis required. Experience of working abroad would be an asset.  Excellent management and communication skillsare a prerequisite. Profound knowledge in software for data base management(Access, CSPro, SQL, STATA, etc.) is a prerequisite. The base of the positionis in Hue City but frequent travels to remote rural areas of all the threeprovinces are necessary.Excellent knowledge of oral and written English includingvery good report writing skills is mandatory.  OfferThe National Research Data Collection Center Manager will be a temporaryemployee of HUAF with all associated social security benefits. The gross salaryis 420 million VND per annum at start and can be complemented byperformance-based bonuses. The initial appointment is for two years but can beextended for up to nine years, depending on performance and the extension offunding by the DFG. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
