We are looking for passionate candidates with solid background for the
following positions:
1.Protected Areas and Law Enforcement Lead, USAID-Viet Nam Biodiversity
Conservation program, based in Hanoi/Hue
2. Wildlife Demand Reduction Lead, USAID-Viet Nam Biodiversity Conservation
program, based in Hanoi/Hue
3. Senior Communications Officer, Illegal Wildlife Trade, based in Hanoi
with key major functions and requirements as below:
1. Protected Areas and Law Enforcement Lead, USAID
*Major Functions:* Responsible for technical management and thought
leadership of Strategic Approach 2 and 3 including support of provincial
team members engaged in these Strategic Approaches. This role will ensure
the integration of SUF/PF forest management, biodiversity monitoring,
species conservation, and law enforcement approaches both within and
outside the protected forests. (S)he will also lead a project-wide law
enforcement approach to ensure forest rangers, Forest Protection
Departments (FPD) under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development
(DARD), local communities, police, environmental police, prosecutors and
judiciary are engaged, coordinated and delivering effective law enforcement
to increase detections, arrests, prosecutions, and convictions.
What you will need to be a good fit:
The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience
supporting improved protected area management and deployment of law
enforcement approaches, including prosecutorial, in relation to natural
resource management. With an understanding of how to engage communities in
natural resource protection and co-management arrangements, the candidate
will preferentially understand Vietnamese legal frameworks. The candidate
should have at least 10 years of applied work experience in this area.
2. Wildlife Demand Reduction Lead, USAID
*Major Functions:* Responsible for technical management and thought
leadership of Strategic Approach 4 (SA 4) including support of provincial
team members engaged in this Strategic Approach. This role will lead the
development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to address the
value chain of illegal wildlife including consumer demand for targeted
illegal wildlife products in rural and urban settings by using Social and
Behavior Change Communications (SBCC) approaches to conduct consumer
research of segment audiences and deliver impactful messages which drive
reductions in demand.
What you will need to be a good fit:
The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in marketing,
communications, or SBCC related approaches and 5-7 years of experience in
designing and implementing SBCC programs, with strong preference for
candidates that have applied the approach in the context of illegal
wildlife trade. The candidate should have expertise with social marketing,
strategic communications, and/or behavior change communication.
3. Senior Communications Officer, Illegal Wildlife Trade
*Major Functions:* Responsible for the program’s communications planning,
management, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities
to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of the WWF’s contractual
obligations. Specifically, he/she will be responsible for leading the
design and implementation of communications and outreach strategies under
the VfD project and Ivory HII. She/he is also expected to liaise with the
Communication Department of WWF-Viet Nam and Regional to make sure all IWT
communication products are in line with WWF communication policy and
regulations, and that the latest communications tools and channels are
deployed to maximize the impacts of activities.
What you will need to be a good fit:
- Advanced university degree in communications, advocacy, journalism,
environmental communications, political science, creative design or other
relevant fields;
- At least 5+ years of working experience in an international
development/environment-related organization or similar, of which at least
two years should have been in a leadership role in campaigning, creative
communications, and/or behavioral change communications with demonstrated
success;
- Digital marketing knowledge with understanding of social media
platforms in Viet Nam
- Good understanding of illegal wildlife trade issues, the supply and
demand drivers that link to social norms, and behaviors of wildlife
consumers in the Vietnamese context;
- Proven experience in designing and implementing specific policy
communications and/or awareness raising campaign targeting government
officials, local communities and the general public;
- Proven experience working with government officials, local communities
and donors, especially on nature conservation and wildlife protection.
