SNV General Call for Consultants and Staff

Based in Vietnam with travel to other provinces

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation is a not-for-profit international development organisation. Founded in the Netherlands in 1965, we have built a long-term country presence in over 29 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Our global team of local and international advisors works with local partners to equip communities, businesses, and organizations with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services - empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and guide their own development.

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995, and currently has over 30 national and international staff. SNV Vietnam’s team works hand-in-hand with communities, government agencies, and businesses in more than 50 provinces, including the remotest and poorest areas of the country. We operate from a country office in Hanoi and project offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Lam Dong province. Our work focuses on three sectors - Agriculture, Energy, and Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH) - and three cross-cutting themes: Climate Change, Gender, and Inclusive Business. By continuing to focus on these interconnected areas and adapting and expanding our approach within them, we will reach more people in Vietnam and beyond and ensure that they have every opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty.

SNV Viet Nam is currently looking for a number of short and long term National Vietnamese and International positions based in Viet Nam to support the design, development and implementation of a number of new and exciting projects and programmes in the fields of climate change, climate smart agriculture and land use and renewable energy. Experts and development professionals with the following areas of technical expertise are desired:

-      Agriculture & inclusive value-chain development (especially for coffee, aquaculture, rice, horticulture, fruits/nuts, forest products and non-timber forest products (NTFPs))

-      Climate Change (Climate smart agriculture, forestry and land use; Nature-based Solutions and Ecosystem-based Adaptation; REDD+)

-      Environmental and Social Safeguards

-      Gender Equality/Women Economic Empowerment

-      Private sector engagement and investment (especially in the fields of climate smart agriculture, forestry, water and renewable energy)

-      Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH)

-      Green/Sustainable Finance and Inclusive Finance

-      Circular Economy and Renewable Energy

General Qualifications:

·        Prospective candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience, preferably in the field of agriculture, agribusiness, forestry, environmental, renewable energy or economic.

·        Bachelor’s degree required and master’s degree preferred.

·        Excellent analytical, project management, time management, and problem solving abilities.

·        Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills both in English as well as Vietnamese.

·        Have strong analytical and writing skills, with a proven record of producing high-quality written outputs, and presenting them in public setting

·        Computer literacy, including MS Access database, MS Excel, MS Project 2010, MS Outlook, MS Word and other Microsoft Office programs
