Recruiting teachers/teacher groups for the Parenting online program

Location: Hanoi, training via zoom

Time: from March to the end of April 2022

1.      General information::
Founded in 1937, Plan International is a humanitarian and development organization that promotes children's rights and equality for girls. We drive changes in practice and policy at the local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge. For over 80 years we have been building strong partnerships for children and we are active in more than 75 countries. Plan International has been operating in Vietnam since 1993.
By June 2019, Plan International Vietnam had improved the lives of more than 1,300,000 children, their families and communities from more than 131 communes in 10 provinces across the country. Our goal by 2021 is to reach 2 million girls from 1,875 ethnic communities in Vietnam so that they can learn, lead, decide and grow.
2.     About the Youth Health Programme Viet Nam:
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), mainly cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease and diabetes, represent a major challenge to health and development in the 21st century. leading cause of death and disability worldwide, necessitating great and increasing efforts in terms of physical health and economic security of all countries, especially low-income countries. medium and low (LMIC). NCDs perpetuate and perpetuate poverty in households and communities, and increase inequality within and between countries.

3.      Objectives and outputs of the project:
The overall goal of the YHP project in Vietnam will be to contribute to improving the health and mental health of young people aged 10-24 years old in Hanoi. Specifically, YHP aims to ensure that young people in Hanoi have improved knowledge about nCd risk behaviors and prevention, helping young people have the capacity to make informed decisions about their health, in the context of improved health services, a supportive system and a favorable policy environment.

§   Objective one: Youth improve their knowledge and capacity to protect and improve their health, including nCd risk prevention, reproductive/sexual health, gender equality and mental health

§  Objective two: Communities (teachers, families, local leaders) are informed and mobilized to provide a safe and supportive environment for young people to engage in healthy behaviour.

§  Objective three: Improve the system of basic health care services and the capacity to support youth health, including accessibility and quality of youth-friendly services

§  Objective fourth: Laws and policies to widely support nCd prevention and youth health promotion

4.     Goals of the parenting training program
            The overall goal of the training program is to equip and enhance parenting knowledge and skills for 240 parents with children aged 10 to 11 from 8 primary schools in Hai Ba Trung and Dong Anh District.

5.      Scope of work::
            5.1.Develop a training program for parents of children aged 10-11 (Grades 4 and 5) on (i) knowledge on prevention of non-communicable diseases; (ii) Knowledge of the child's psycho-physiological development stages; (iii) Knowledge and skills to respect children's differences; (iv) Anger/stress management skills (v) Knowledge on the relationship between Mental Health and Non-communicable- Diseases.
            5.2. Conduct 48 online training sessions (60 minutes/session) on the zoom platform for 240 parents selected by the project
            5.3. Development of training results report

6.     Working Modality and time of operation
            -  Expected in March and April 2022
            -  Online training on zoom platform
            -  Each training course lasts 6 sessions at 1 school. Each session is about 60 minutes in the evening. Each course has about 30 parents attending. The training course should be completed within the estimated time from March 18 to April 20, 2022. (Expected 2 sessions/school/week)
-  At least 2 training courses at two schools should be taken place at the same time. Each training class will have a responsible trainer. Each trainer will follow all 6 training sessions of each school.

7.2. Budget:
This activity is funded from activity 2.3 of project YHP, WBS: VN10240-VNM-049-2613-02, Fund Program: VNM 100454-2.3
8. Requirements for teacher/groups of teacher:
- Have a university degree or higher in the field of social sciences, teaching the psychology of children and adolescents
- Knowledge of gender equality issues; Children's rights, non-communicable diseases, adolescent mental health, parenting skills in the context of Vietnam

- Experience in documenting topics on gender, NCDs, adolescent mental health, parenting skills

- Experience in teaching parenting skills
