Happy Moon Bear Monday!

Spring time at our sanctuary in Tam Dao, Vietnam and it is currently dotted
with these beautiful “rice flowers” falling from a tree towering high above
the enclosures. This shot was taken last week by Education Assistant,
Quyen.

You might expect that the next frame was the bear chomping or trampling
this exquisite bloom but instead, after an appreciative sniff, he simply placed
it back on the grass as he followed his nose to the next interesting smell.

Our staff work hard to provide enrichment for all the bears and sometimes,
bears like Taurus, in this beautiful environment, find it for themselves.

As a side note - the tree was once a key landmark in the boundary dispute
that threatened the future of the sanctuary. Fitting then that it now
provides such beauty and inspiring moments as this one.

Happy Moon Bear Monday everyone. Be inspired by Taurus, remember to find
time this week to smell the flowers[?]
