[wildtrade] New PSA: Vietnam's TV news anchor Hoai Anh calls on the public to protect pangolins

Dear Sir/Madam,

Pangolins - one of Vietnam's endangered species is now on the verge of
extinction due to severe hunting, trade and consumption. Recently, Vietnam's
authorities have uncovered many cases of pangolin smuggling and trade.
Between 2012 and the end of 2014, ENV has documented more than 34.3 tons of
frozen pangolins and pangolin scales seized by authorities in Hai Phong
alone. The consumer demand for pangolin scales and meat as food and in
traditional medicine has increased in Vietnam. Furthermore, Vietnam is also
considered a transit country for pangolin smuggling in the region. 

Education for Nature - Vietnam (ENV) has released a new public service
announcement, calling on the public not to consume pangolins and to report
pangolin crime to ENV's national toll free Wildlife Crime Hotline (1800
1522).
