• Save Vietnam’s Wildlife will provide basic salary sufficient to
cover living costs in Vietnam for the first year. There after the field
research manager will be responsible for raising funds for research
projects including her/his salary and associated costs such as travel,
food, accommodation, research assistance and equipment. <br> •
Save Vietnam’s Wildlife will provide a one-way airfare to Hanoi, and
airfare to home country after a minimum of two years service.<br> • Save Vietnam’s Wildlife will cover cost of the position visa and health insurance while in Vietnam

Vietnam’s Wildlife (SVW) is a national Non-Profit Organisation in
Vietnam that was established under the Vietnam Union of Science and
Technology Associations with registration license from Ministry of
Science and Technology. Our aims are:</p><p style="padding-left:30px">• Delivering effective education programs to empower people to take informed action.<br>• Working with Government to effect positive, long-lasting change for wildlife.<br>•
Rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing confiscated threatened
wildlife, and contributing to conservation-breeding programs for
globally-threatened species, in support of wild populations.<br>• Increasing understanding of conservation requirements of threatened wildlife through rigorous scientific research.<br>• Demonstrating and promoting good animal welfare to organizations throughout Vietnam. <br></p><p style="padding-left:30px"><b>Accommodation: </b>Provided at Cuc Phuong National Park<br><b>Benefits: </b>12 working days annual holiday following Vietnamese Labour law, plus 10 national holiday days.<br><b>Hours of work: </b>8
hours each day 5 days a week. However, as the animals within the centre
are nocturnal it is expected that the employee may sometimes work
during the evenings. Any overtime will be accrued and time given off in
lieu.<br><b>Working with: </b>Save Vietnam’s Wildlife, including staff
based at Cuc Phuong National Park and overseas; other NGO partners;
government departments; visiting researchers; and community
organisations.<br><br><b>Job mission:</b> Transfer skills and develop
capacity of the SVW research team, as well as local conservationists and
scientists thereby contributing to the conservation of wildlife in
Vietnam. This will entail the development, implementation, supervision,
and fundraising of both in situ and ex situ research projects. <br><br><b>Research Priorities of SVW:</b><br>• The status, distribution, ecology and behaviour of SVW priority species (including Chinese and Sunda pangolin).<br>• The illegal wildlife trade of SVW priority species in Vietnam.
National Vietnamese conservation policy.<br>• Social research on illegal wildlife trade of pangolins in Vietnam.<br>• Tracking and post release research on wildlife.<br><br><b>Job activities: </b>The
field research manager will be responsible for developing and
supervising the SVW research team, as well as developing, fund-raising
for, and implementing research projects in line with organizational
objectives. Developing the capacity of the SVW research team is a
priority of this position. Specific activities are as follows, in no
particular order:<br><br> • Lead and manage research project/s aligned to research priorities of SVW.<br> • Support the professional development of the SVW Vietnamese research officers.<br> • Assist Vietnamese Research Officers to join international training courses and workshops.<br> • Fundraising for research activities and subsequent compliance and acquittal.<br> • Provide technical assistance to forest rangers carrying out field surveys.<br> • As this position is to be funded after the first year by research grants the following criteria are essential<br><b>Essential criteria:</b><br><b>Qualifications: </b><br>A post graduate degree in a relevant science or conservation based discipline<br><b>Knowledge and experience:</b><br>• Proven fundraising skills and experience writing successful grant applications<br>• Demonstrable team leadership experience<br>• A track record of peer-reviewed publications<br>• Practical knowledge of wildlife and habitat conservation<br>• Experience of living and working in field conditions<br>•
Demonstrable experience of working effectively with a number of
