CHF is a Canadian non-governmental organization with over 10 years of experience in sustainable livelihoods development in Vietnam and over 40 years worldwide. Among other projects, CHF currently implements a Livelihood Improvement of Vulnerable Ethnic Minority Communities Affected by the Song Bung 4 Hydropower Project technical assistance package for the Asian Development Bank in Quang Nam. CHF is also in the process of designing new programming in Quang Nam and elsewhere in Vietnam’s central region.
The Opportunity
This opportunity is for a Technical Advisor and Country Coordinator to provide support to CHF management staff in Vietnam and Ottawa in implementing and growing CHF’s program in Vietnam. This is a part time position at up to 10 days per month with opportunities to expand depending on future program requirements. Specific duties include:
1. Support to Song Bung 4 Project (reporting to Program Officer, Asia)
- Monitor field operations in general in order to provide management and project implementation support to the Team Leader and Resettlement Specialist
- provide support to the CHF Hanoi Administrator on financial management and administration as necessary
- support the Regional Director and Program Manager to manage staff provide capacity building to staff in the area of sustainable livelihoods
2. Support to business development (reporting to Regional Director, Asia)
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in development management, and at least two in Vietnam.
-University degree relevant to rural development and sustainable livelihoods.
-Substantive knowledge of and expertise in one or more of CHF’s current focus areas: uplands agriculture and food security; rural infrastructure; disaster response and mitigation; and livelihoods and HIV/Aids.
- Willingness to work in difficult conditions and travel frequently.
- Experience working with ethnic minority peoples in an empowering manner
