The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is the main independent humanitarian organization in the world. In view of reopening an office in Hanoi, we look for an assistant to the Head of Office. The candidates responding to the following requisites are welcome to apply.
Minimum required knowledge & experience:
- High Education (University or Institute)
- 4 years work experience in a similar field of activity
- Very good knowledge of spoken and written English
- Very good computer literacy
- Good rigor, method and analytical skills
- Good knowledge of the political, social and cultural assigned environment
Standard function description:
- Executes office tasks in the office independently
- Executes general administrative tasks
- Translates when needed
- Implements and follows-up a project independently upon request
- Helps to establish, develop and maintain contacts with all interlocutors
- Contributes to make ICRC better known

JOB DESCRIPTION
General Duties
- Is aware of the Office's objectives and activities
- Understands the three components of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement
- Is aware of and respects the administrative regulations
- Respects and observes the staff regulations of the ICRC in Viet Nam
- May be asked to perform duties and tasks not covered in this job description
- Analysis / reporting on general situation when requested
- Is aware of the political, security, social and cultural context
- Regularly screens known channels of information and gathers relevant information for the ICRC
- Identifies new relevant channels of information (national/international media, internet, authorities, population, etc)
- Reports relevant information on specific important event/issues immediately to HoO
- Is aware of other humanitarian organisations' activities and relations with ICRC
- Advises and/or informs HoO in various fields, such as local culture, politics, economy, etc
Field/Travel Coordination
- Prepares travel documents for field trips upon request.
External relations
- Maintains contacts with interlocutors, is aware of their specificities and briefs HoO accordingly
- Acts as contact person for interlocutors of the HoO, organises meetings for, and attends them together with, HoO, upon request
- Interprets during meetings and in any other situation, upon request
- Meets interlocutors autonomously on request of HoO during absences of the latter
- Prepares minutes of meetings and memoranda, upon request
- Keeps updated table of interlocutors and phone list
Office activities
- Prepares ad-hoc reports and/or analysis of specific events, upon request
- Translates documents from Vietnamese into English and vice versa, upon request
- Treats information (general and specific) with confidentiality and accuracy
- Keeps files updated at all time
