Director of Studies required in Hanoi

ESL Teacher: Required to manage teachers and teach 30 hours per week
Reporting to: Defence Cooperation Education Officer (DCEO)

General Overview: The Director of Studies is responsible for delivering a high-quality English academic programme as part of our Defence Cooperation Program between Australia and Vietnam and supporting a team of teachers. The DOS will teach English and play a key role in the management of courses in Hanoi and supporting the DCEO.
Requirements: Must be an experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher with an internationally recognised ESL qualification.

At least ten years ESL teaching experience

Specific Responsibilities: The following list is not exhaustive, but indicates the main areas of responsibility:

Actively teach English language from beginner to intermediate levels

Actively teach on the Foundation for Academic Studies and IELTS Preparation courses

Manage (both formally and informally) the teachers on a day-to-day basis
-
Design and manage the timetable for all Hanoi programs
-
Work with DCEO and staff to ensure effective delivery of curriculum
-
Manage the generation of timely and meaningful student reports at the end of each course

Coordinate course and lesson planning with the teachers
-
Coordinate textbook, stationery and supply orders, in consultation with staff
-
Be responsible for student management issues such as discipline, including liaising with the DCEO or the Student Management Department as necessary

Oversee significant variations to routine and communication with staff e.g. testing schedules, activities week etc

Develop systems to monitor and, where necessary, improve, the academic progress of the students

Other responsibilities as designated by the DCEO or DCP Manager
