The National Cancer Center of Japan (NCCJ) has kicked off a cooperation project, named Atlas, with five Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, to find out the best cancer treatments amid the rising number of cancer patients, state media reported. The project is expected to build a treatment plan for rare cancers and provide the most advanced treatments, including drugs, for patients in the five countries. A NCCJ official revealed that the center now wants to set up a framework to produce cancer drugs aimed at catching up with the E.U. and the U.S.’s treatments. The World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that Vietnam has about 165,000 new cancer cases and 115,000 cancer deaths each year.
