The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi on June 5 awarded 200 fully-paid scholarships, which are sponsored by the Russian government, for Vietnamese students, who won Russian Olympiad contests of Math, Russian, Physics, and Information Technology, state media reported. The Olympiad contests were first held via online due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), with 2,000 contestants from North, Central and South of Vietnam. Speaking at the award ceremony, director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Hanoi E.A. Vishnitskaia expressed her thankfulness to Vietnam’s supports for the contest, as well as the other Russian education projects. She also mentioned the cooperation on science-education between Vietnam and Russia. The Russian government has annually offered 900-1,000 scholarships for Vietnamese students. In 2020, 965 Russian scholarships will be granted for Vietnamese people to study in Russia for the degrees of university, master, doctorate, and internship. (Cong An Nhan Dan, Thoi Dai, cand)
