In order to boost the connection between tertiary education and businesses, Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training will grant more autonomy and set more responsibilities for universities, said Minister Phung Xuan Nha, on the sidelines of the recent event on the link between sectors of education-training and agriculture. Minister Nha added that the ministry will guide universities to focus more on researching, instead of solely on training. Such activities must meet conditions on innovation, links with businesses and alumni, and labor demand. Besides, he listed problems of tertiary education, including the non-prediction on labor demand, the outdated learning programs without lessons on soft skills, and the non-practical teaching methods.
