Vietnam can early detect monkeypox cases and curb the outbreaks of the disease with support from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said Dr. Eric Dziuban, Country Director for CDC Vietnam.
The U.S. official made the statement at a virtual working session on July 29 with the Vietnamese press about the disease.
The U.S. CDC has worked closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health since June 1 about the disease, including guidelines and recommendations for disease supervision, clinical diagnosis, and prediction.
He said that with Vietnam’s recent reopening to foreign visitors, it will be no surprise to see monkeypox cases in the country. However, Vietnam has advantages in dealing with the disease because it already had two months to prepare plans for curbing the disease.
