EMWG thematic paper at the World Bank International Conference on “Sustainable Development and Ethnic Minority Poverty Reduction in Mountainous Regions”, June 2014

Dear EMWG members,

On 12th-13th, June, 2014, the World Bank in partnership with Thai Nguyen University successfully organized the International Conference on “Sustainable Development and Ethnic Minority Poverty Reduction in Mountainous Regions” in Thai Nguyen province. The conference attracted more than 200 participants from ministries, insitutions, development partners, professionals, CSOs, NGOs community and individuals working related to development issues of ethnic minorities. In particular, this event warmly welcomed local representatives of provinces across Vietnam and foreign countries in the world.

Many models of and experience in poverty reduction of ethnic minorities/ indigenous people were shared and exchanged at the conference. The EMWG was also invited to deliver a thematic paper, entitled "Critical issues in achieving sustainable development of ethnic minorities in Vietnam", at the important event.
