Insurers Help with Typhoon Relief
Two insurance companies, Prudential Vietnam and Manulife Vietnam, have donated VND254 million (US$14,400) and VND39 million ($2,200) respectively to victims of typhoon Ketsana. Prudential Vietnam General Director Jach Howell handed over the funds, donated by the company’s leaders, employees and agents, to Thanh Nien newspaper’s Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Quang Thong in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday. The donation is a response to a program launched by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Thanh Nien to give one million notebooks and one million ballpoint pens to students in storm-stricken regions. Manulife Vietnam on Monday delivered 260 gifts worth VND150,000 each to 260 households affected by storm and floods in four communes in Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City.
