Project Officers
The Vietnam Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) funded by Join United Nations Programme to Fight Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza is a training program. This is managed and implemented by General Department of Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health under the lead of Ministry of Health. FETP help to strengthen the epidemiologic capacity for physicians and comparable preventive medicine staff in Vietnam through the principle “learning by doing”. The Vietnam FETP includes field epidemiology short course (FESC) and classical 2-year FETP fellowship aiming to train staff at different levels of preventive medicine system with different program objectives.
Vietnam FETP is now seeking qualified candidates to the 02 positions of Project officers. The Project officers will work closely with senior international and national staff, country collaborators (UNDP, WHO, Ministry of Health and Medicine Institutes).
1. Main tasks & responsibilities
- Together with the team, implement the designed FETP activities; Organize training, workshops, and other capacity building activities; Prepare annual/quarter work plan outlining specific activities, performance indicators, timelines & budgets.
- Devise tools and methodologies for the monitoring and evaluation.
- Assist the Manager in creating logical frameworks, monitoring and evaluation plans, and plans of actions to articulate project design.
- Assist on designing and implementing applied epidemiological research projects aimed at developing more effective public health interventions.
- Serving as a trainer to assist lead trainers, especially for field supervisory visits, outbreak investigations, curriculum, and faculty training needs, and mentoring workshops.
- Write project reports offering analytical advice and recommendations for quality improvements.
- Monitor the progress of the project activities, including verifying and visiting project activities
2. Selection Criteria and Qualifications
- MD., MPH in preventive medicine or comparable and at least 02 years of experience in public health system.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge and practical experience of field epidemiology surveillance.
- Experience in teaching preventive medicine practices, including descriptive and analytic epidemiology and surveillance principles are preferred.
- Well developed planning.
- Experience in program implementation and participatory approach
- Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision
- Fluency in English and Vietnamese languages.
- Good computer skills (MS office and statistic software).
- Willingness to travel regularly.
Duration of contract: 1 years with the chance of extension
Work base: Hanoi City, with frequent travel to project sites in Vietnam
