First Post-COVID-19 Rehabilitation Department Set up in Northern Vietnam

The COVID-19 hospital, under Hanoi Medical University, has set up a 40-bed department for post-COVID-19 rehabilitation, the first of its kind in northern Vietnam, in a bid to take care of both physical and mental health for coronavirus patients, local media reported. Associate Professor-Doctor Hoang Bui Hai, deputy director of the hospital, said that since the establishment of the hospital, rehabilitation doctors and resuscitators must work in the same treatment room, which gradually exerts negative impacts on coronavirus patients and causes overloads, so the hospital set up the department. Earlier on January 8, Director Tang Chi Thuong of the Department of Health in Ho Chi Minh City said that the city has started to record some people with post-COVID-19 health problems such as mental disorders and lung- and cardiovascular-related sequelae. He affirmed that the city’s health sector will consider the issue a major task this year. A rehabilitation center in HCMC reported dozens of patients with post-pandemic health issues, from 20-30 cases in late September, last year, to 40-60 cases per day in late December, last year.  (VnExpress, Tuoi Tre, Tuoi Tre 1, Tuoi Tre 2, VietnamNet)
