USAID Provides $1M for Urgent COVID-19 Aid in Central Vietnam

The Vietnam Red Cross Society has launched a $1 million relief package funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in urgent COVID-19 assistance for the central region, local media reported. The project will be carried out in 40 communes of ten central localities, namely Danang city and nine provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, and Phu Yen till April 2022. Each locality selects four communes severely hit by the pandemic and floods in late 2020 to implement the project. Over 12,000 poor and near-poor households with more than 37,300 people will benefit from the project. The relief aid will offer food coupons to needy people and boost communications about hygiene and clean water to raise public awareness, thus preventing and slowing down the disease spread.
