Vietnam Provides Best HIV Treatment Service in World: PEPFAR Coordinator

Vietnam has provided the best HIV treatment service in the world, Country Coordinator Mark P. Troger of the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) said. The PEPFAR made the statement at a meeting in Hanoi on January 19 on carrying out the amended law on HIV/AIDS prevention, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) treatment in 2021-2025, and antiretroviral (ARV) use and management by health insurances. In Vietnam, the rate of HIV-infected people receiving ARV treatment with a viral load below the inhibitory threshold reached 95%, the highest in the world. In the future, PEPFAR will continue supporting Vietnam in realizing 95-95-95 goals and increasing HIV-related services. Last year, Vietnam recorded 13,000 new HIV patients and the number tends to increase in some localities, mainly by risky sexual behaviors. (Nguoi Lao Dong, nld.com.vn, moh.gov.vn, suckhoedoisong.vn)
