WWF Pledges to Accompany Vietnam in Environmental Protection: Official

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) commits to supporting Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) on environmental protection and climate change adaptation, said WWF’s Global Director Prasanna De Silva.

The official affirmed while meeting Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh in Hanoi on October 14.

Mr. Prasanna De Silva highlighted WWF’s ongoing role in assisting the Vietnamese government with plastic pollution control, especially ocean waste, and technological applications for biodiversity monitoring.

He said the WWF seeks to collaborate on a Global Plastics Agreement, working alongside Vietnam and other countries. The organization also desired to partner with MoNRE and relevant Vietnamese ministries to apply technology in natural monitoring and biodiversity conservation, Mr. Prasanna De Silva added.

In reply, Deputy Minister Thanh acknowledged the WWF as an essential partner in biodiversity conservation, ocean waste management, and climate resilience.

He called for enhanced cooperation in plastic lifecycle management, waste sorting, and reuse to tackle emerging environmental challenges.
