Communications, Research and Advocacy Manager
Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) is a national NGO which inherits CIDSE’s 28 years of experiences in working in the field of poverty alleviation in Vietnam. We empower disadvantaged
communities in rural and mountainous areas to manage sustainably their own livelihood systems, regardless of ethnic groups, gender or religious belief. SRD currently focuses on Sustainable
Agriculture, Rural Livelihoods, Climate Change, Local Governance and Pro-Poor Policy Advocacy.
They are currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Communications, Research and Advocacy Manager, based in Hanoi with frequent travels to the project sites. SRD offers good opportunities for working, learning and sharing within the dynamic Team of SRD.
Overall Responsibilities:
1. Take the leadership in development of strategy for the organization’s communications, research and advocacy activities as per SRD’s strategic research plan;
2. Draw up an implementation plan for Communications, research and advocacy activities;
3. Design and provide leadership and management oversight to research and advocacy activities to acheive projects’ goals and objectives;
4. Design and provide leadership and Management oversight to communications activities (Publications production, fund raising, etc.)
5. Provide inputs to reports; present and create documentation for research outcomes in order to dissaminate related information and results;
6. Work in close consultation with Management Board and other program officers to prepare presentations and represent SRD at all related conferences/networks;
7. Undertake financial management for all communications, research and advocacy related programs;
8. Provide guidance and training courses for other program officers to carry out communications, research and advocacy activities to acheive project objectives;
9. Provide assistance to program officers in terms of research and advocacy; and develop implemetation plan for program unit;
10. Provide the administrative support to all staff under Communications, Research and Advocacy unit;
11. Create a network of partnership with other organizations to share information in related field;
12. Build up the close relationship with potential partners and donors;
13. Undertake other tasks/duties as required
Qualification and competencies required:
- Master degree or post degree in Agricultural, Economic or Social Science, Communications or equivalent qualification;
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of Communications, Research and Advocacy;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Research, Analysis and Advocacy or communications working with local or international organizations at senior levels;
- Experience in managing large scale research projects with multiple actors;
- Proven experiences in negotiating strategic partnerships and managing variety of partnerships simultaneously, particularly in the research and advocacy context;
- Excellent analytical and research skills;
- Excellent communication (both spoken and written) and interpersonal skills;
- Willing to travel to project sites of SRD as required
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadline;
- Excellent English, both written and spoken;
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Words, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer.
- Having previous experience of working for a non-government organization (NGO) at the same position preferred;
Remuneration:
Net income would be from $800 - $1,100 per month depending on qualifications and competitiveness.
