Landmine Working Group Meeting

This is regular meeting of Landmine Working Group. The detail agenda will be as below:

– Gus Guthrie from NPA with a presentation on “Land Release in a Cluster Munition Context” – explaining how Vietnam could adapt the approach that was discussed at 2MSP in Beirut, and now being introduced in Lao PDR, to some significant advantage in Vietnam.  There will probably be questions and discussion.
– Ngo Xuan Hien and others who attended the 2MSP meeting in Beirut will update us on highlights of the meeting, a regional gathering of South East Asian delegates outside of the regular agenda, and upcoming CCM schedules and CMC advocacy initiatives. CONFIRMED.
– The Landmines Working Group is also overdue for election of a chair person (or co-chairs, as is the case now).  Ms. Thanh Hong from AEPD and Mr. Chuck Searcy have been sharing duties as co-chairs for longer than the prescribed one-year term.  It’s time to review the status of the LWG and our leadership and direction, and determine what changes and improvements are needed.
– Usual updates and information sharing among LWG members about current activities and initiatives of general interest.
