Position: LLP Intern
Duration: 4 months
Duty Location: Ho Chi Minh city
Overall Overview
The Local Language Publishing Intern’s overall responsibility is to provide support for the successful implementation of the Local Language Program that aims to produce and publish children’s literature that are cultural relevant, developmentally appropriate and gender sensitive
The Intern will report to the Local Language Publication Officer.
Intern program
- Assist the Local Language Publication Officer with the overall development and publication of children’s books
- Assist with the program collaboration with the Reading Room and the Literacy Instruction Program for the identification of reading needs of children and availability of market books for the design and publication of books and materials for Reading and Literacy Projects
- Assist with development of instructional materials of the Literacy Instruction Program and provide inputs for design and printing of those materials
- Support with preparation and implementation of workshops, competitions and commissions for writers and illustrators for sourcing manuscripts
- Support with coordination with DoETs and BoETs, schools and other relevant authorities on LLP books including field testing, book launching, workshops on LLP books for educators
- Participate in the selection of authors, illustrators, editors and printing companies for LLP books
- Assist with the process of obtaining official approval from The Ministry of Information and Communications for publication, copy rights and ISBN codes
- Assist with the support and supervision of works performed by writers and illustrators to ensure the timely and quality of manuscripts
- Assist with the book procurement process including preparation of technical standards for LLP books
- Be in charge of the design of a Dedication Language Page for LLP books in collaboration with ROGO (Regional & Global Office) Local Language Publication Team
- Be in charge of the LLP book distribution to Room to Read projects in collaboration with Reading Room, Literacy and Girls Education Program Teams
- Be in charge of the LLP book distribution to non-RtR schools, other INGOs, DoETs and ROGO
- Be in charge of book distribution records in collaboration with Finance and Admin teams
- Support with the communication with MoETs, other provincial DoETs, INGOs, international donors on LLP books for an advocacy purpose
- Support with report writing for ROGO and other government partners
- Perform other tasks as discussed with the Local Language Publication Program Officer.
Qualifications
Required
- Knowledge of INGOs/international donors on education projects/programs
- A basic knowledge and understanding of the current primary curriculum and education policies of the Ministry of Education and Training
- A good experience of book design, edition and publication
- A good capacity of Vietnamese written language
- Fluency in spoken and written English
Preferred
- Having a relevant bachelor’s degree (Education, English language…)
- A good experience of graphic computer soft ware (Microsoft Publication, Photoshop, Illustrators…)
- Having a good personality, communication skill, team working spirit
