Project Officer Disability and Poverty
Netherlands leprosy Relief (NLR) has been supporting projects in Vietnam and the SE Asian region since 1981; initially leprosy disease control projects, later shifting towards leprosy disability projects and more recently towards projects that comprehensively serve the needs of persons with disability regardless of the cause of disability. NLR aims to advance Health and Ability in the countries where it is active. Central to NLR’s support is the link between disability and poverty. NLR’s work has brought tremendous change in the lives of thousands of people in Vietnam.
NLR works in partnership with governmental and non-governmental local organizations. The intervention strategies of NLR’s support are: disease control and treatment, prevention of disability and mobilizing existing disability and poverty alleviation services for those in need. Where certain disability services do not exist yet, NLR strives to support the development of these services.
The NLR MEKONG Regional Office (RO) in Hanoi manages the NLR support for projects in the Mekong Region countries, i.e. Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, China, Laos and Thailand; and is currently seeking a qualified, motivated and responsible Vietnamese national for the position of Project Officer Disability and Poverty
- experienced in working with projects for persons with disability, in particular addressing the link between disability and poverty;
- good project monitoring and project report writing skills;
- strong grant proposal writing skills;
- who can well advocate and implement the principles of diversity and inclusiveness in the projects that NLR supports;
- who can work as a responsible, active and supportive team member in our office and in the field.
