Project Manager
Gruppo Trentino di Volontariato (GTV) is an Italian NGO which has been active in Vietnam since 2002. GTV pursues a strategy of territorial development by working together with the community on a wide range of sectors in order to address its needs. Since 2010, GTV has selected as location for its intervention the distric of Son Dong, Bac Giang province, one of the 62 poorest district in Vietnam as defined by MOLISA.
Now, with the financial assistance of the Autonomous Province of Trento (Italy) and in partnership with Centro Italiano Aiuti all'Infanzia (CIAI), the Health Center of Son Dong district and the Department of Education and Training (DoET) of Son Dong district, GTV is in the process of commencing a new project called 'Community for all! - Health and Education for disabled children belonging to ethnic minorities in North Vietnam'. The project is implemented in the district of Son Dong with a special focus on the Long Son, Duong Huu and An Lap communes.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the social inclusion of persons with disability in Vietnam.
The specific objective is the social and school inclusion of children with disability belonging to ethnic minorities in Northern Vietnam.
The expected results are:
1) Improved pre- and post-natal care to reduce the incidence of disability.
2) A community-based rehabilitation model is established in the project area.
3) The level of school inclusion in the 3 pilot communes has been increased.
Therefore, GTV is seeking a qualified Vietnamese candidate to fill the position of project manager of this intervention.
Starting date: September 15th 2014
Duration: 24 months
Location: based in Hanoi, with frequent field trips to Son Dong
Remuneration: according to the qualification and experience of the candidate
Desired skills:
– university degree in development, management, social work or education;
– at least 3 years of prior experience in management of development projects. Project writing and reporting skills;
– prior working experience in the sector of disability and knowledge of CBR;
– prior working experience in rural areas and to raise and share ideas with the community;
– good analytical skilss to assess needs in a rural context;
– dynamic, result-oriented and capable of working autonomously;
– ability to work with Institutional Partners at different administrative levels;
– good facilitation skills – ability to facilitate different kinds of meetings: in a working/office environment or more community / village environment;
– fluent spoken and written English;
– IT literate (MS Word, Excel, internet, e-mail);
– knowledge of Italian language will be considered an asset.
The Project Manager will report to GTV's headquarters in Italy and will have to coordinate with all relevant project partners in Vietnam.
