Local Project Assistant
The Golden West Humanitarian Foundation (GWHF) is a US Non-Governmental Organization. Since 1998, the Foundation has addressed critical shortfalls in heavily mine and UXO-impacted countries across the globe. Each year we have built on our innovative work from the past, uncovering and addressing the challenges that hinder clearance efforts. In 2006, GWHF expanded to Vietnam and since then, has been providing technical support in UXO clearance and MRE for children.
In 2014, a new Children’s Education Division project opened in Quang Binh province. The Swim for Life project is implemented in Dong Hoi city and Quan Hau district, providing equipment and technical support in safe swimming skills for children.
We are looking for qualified candidates based in Quang Binh Province for the position of Local Project Assistant under Swim for Life project.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Position: Local Project Assistant
Supervisor: Children Education Division’s Program Coordinator.
Place of work: Quang Binh province
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance and field supervision for activities under the Swim for Life project in Quang Binh, including swimming pool construction and set up, project related trainings, daily operation and maintenance of the pools, swimming classes at schools, communication on safe swimming at schools, etc.
- Provide logistical support such as reserving conference/workshop venues, arranging catering services, preparing materials for events such as meetings, trainings, workshops, booking travel, lodging, etc.
- Provide regular reports as well as emerging issues on field work to the Program Coordinator.
- Keep good relationships between Golden West and local partners.
- Provide translation from English to Vietnamese and vice versa when needed.
- Others as requested
Key Competence:
- Bachelor degree.
- At least 1 year working experience in community development or children education/protection program/project in International NGOs.
- Good at spoken and written English
- Good communication skill, team work skill, partnership skill.
- Good computer skill – MS Office, emails.
- Able to work independently under least supervision from seniors.
- Responsible, pro-active, creative, flexible, love to work with and for children.
- Preferred skills: experience working with Departments of Education and Training, ability to swim well, basic knowledge of swimming pool construction and operation.
