Programme Communications Officer
MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is a neutral and impartial humanitarian organization clearing the remnants of conflict for the benefit of communities worldwide. MAG is co-laureate of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize, awarded for its work with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL), which culminated in the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty - the international agreement that bans antipersonnel land mines, sometimes referred to as the Ottawa Convention. MAG is currently is seeking suitably qualified and highly motivated candidates for the position of Programme Communications Officer to work in Hanoi Representative Office.
Summary of the Position:
The Programme Communications Officer position provides support to the MAG programme through accurate Vietnamese/English translation (and vice versa) of documents, interpretation at meetings and events as requested, assisting the PO in preparing the reports and daily administrative and logistics task; and in providing general programme communications support.
Specific Areas of Responsibility
- To translate incoming written documents and correspondence from Vietnamese to English and vice versa as requested by the line manager (PO).
- To accompany the Country Director (CD) and other international staff to provide verbal translation at meetings or events.
- To assist the PO in preparing the reports, in daily administrative and logistics tasks.
- To be familiar with MAG’s work and activities to ensure that MAG is accurately represented.
- To be familiar with MAG’s corporate identity and style guidelines and assist programme staff in ensuring compliance with visibility guidelines.
- To facilitate media requests in conjunction with the CD and PO.
- Maintain and update the MAG Vietnam internal and external contact lists.
- Assist the PO in establishing and maintaining the programme and operations Database
Requirements:
- Vietnamese citizen with good verbal and written English
- Computer literate and effective abilities in Word, PowerPoint, Excel;
- A minimum of 3- years experience, preferably in international NGO;
- Previous experience in translation.
- Experience in administration, communications, and reporting skills is an advantage.
- Occasional out of hours work will be required
- Occasional field based travel will be required
