Innovation Specialist

SNV Vietnam is looking for Innovation Specialist, based in Hanoi, Vietnam with travel to other provinces.

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market-based approaches, SNV is committed to creating positive social impact by catalyzing environmentally-sustainable solutions in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+.

Inclusive Business Accelerator Vietnam (“IBA”) is the first one-stop shop in the country for various services needed by businesses which include low-income groups in their operations. The IBA is managed by SNV in international partnership with BoP Innovation Center, Venture Capital for Africa (VC4A), and Nyenrode Business University.  

We use innovative acceleration models to make the businesses investor-ready. Our scope of services include: Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification, Business Design & Readiness, and Investor – Investee Match-making.

There are two types of engagement with the IBA: 1/ IBA Acceleratee Program, a special service package for inclusive businesses with 9-12 months of time commitment; and 2/ IBA Non-Acceleratee Program, another package that offers tailored-made services upon request. We are interested in agribusiness, sustainable energy, water, and ICT innovations.

We are seeking a candidate who is doing well in the private sector but wants to take her/his career to a new level in a development and innovation context.

Responsibilities

• Implement the market/opportunity scanning on enterprises (both growth stage and start-up stage), development agencies, donors and investors whose are potential clients and partners for IBA project
• Conduct financial/investment analysis, business plan development
• Participate in data analysis and assessments on various parts of enterprises’ business operations
• Support IBA team with organizing events to call for applications, create match-making between investors and investees, and develop mentor network
• Test and pilot innovative products and services
• Monitor service providers’ activities
• Take lead in monitoring and evaluation of financial and social impacts created by IBA’s clients 
• Support any other tasks as requested by the project manager

Candidate profile

• University degree in Technology, Innovation, Business Administration, or Finance; Master degree and overseas education would be an advantage
• At least 4 years of experience in business incubation, management consulting, investment banking or corporate finance advisory
• Prior experience with a business incubator would be a plus
• Willingness to travel to project sites on a regular basis
• Proactive and creative in solving problems
• Strong ability to work independently, be hardworking and a team player
• Good organizational skills and interpersonal skills
• Good oral and written communication skills in English
• Good computer skills in Power Point and Excel

Contract Duration:  SNV Vietnam offers one-year employment contract with the possibility of extension (subject to work performance in the first year)
