PATH seeks a Senior Technical Officer to provide technical support for a new, 3-year project aimed at reducing hypertension-related morbidity and mortality in Vietnam. The Senior Technical Officer will work closely with national, provincial and research institute counterparts and the private sector to develop technical documents/training curriculum/research protocol and provide technical support for the day-to-day activities of the project. This position will bebased in Ho Chi Minh City.
Under the guidance, supervision and direction of the Project Director, specific responsibilities include:
- Serve as a Technical Lead for the project, develop training curriculum in collaboration with national and provincial partners, and provide training and technical support for implementation of project activities;
- Maintain updated technical knowledge in hypertension control and management, NCDs and related public health topics, in order to provide technical assistance to project staff and partners and build PATH’s reputation in NCDs in Vietnam;
- Collaborate with health officials in Ho Chi Minh City for project design, implementation, and supportive supervision and monitoring;
- Serve as the point person for coordinating a Technical Working Group and research institute activities;
- Coordinate closely with PATH’s Global Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) leaders/staff to develop technical documents and research protocol.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and spoken Vietnamese and English;
- Skilled in developing training curriculum and providing training;
- Skilled in conducting research including development of research tools/protocols;
- Demonstrated report writing and presentation skills;
- Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team;
- Willingness and ability to travel within Vietnam up to 30 percent per year.
Required Experience
- Medical doctor with expertise in non-communicable disease and/or chronic disease management;
- At least 5 years of experience working in public health;
- Experience working effectively with government counterparts at both national and provincial level;
- Experience working with public-private partnerships ideal but not required.
