EMWG's report on a case-study on ethnic minority women's participation in economic development

Dear EMWGers,

Following the coordination of Gender and Community Development Network (GenComNet), Domestic Violence Prevention Network (DOVIPNET) and Network for Empowerment of Women (NEW) together with 21 organizations and networks working on gender in Vietnam, the EMWG prepared one part of the Article 14 (Rural women) of the Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) with subject: The participation of ethnic minority women in economic development.

In order to collect evidence and statistics, the EMWG conducted a case – study in 3 provinces: Yen Bai, Dien Bien and Bac Can. This study was done with the methods of secondary data consolidation and direct interview with 151 women in 17 hamlets, including 8 ethnic groups: Tay, Dao, Thai, H’mông, Kho Mu, Nung, San Chi and Kinh in the three provinces. The study was well carried out with the close collaboration of the EMWG’s partners.

Please find the case-study report in both English and Vietnamese in the attached files.

Thank you,

EMWG
