National Consultants to Develop Gender Statistics Profile of Viet Nam

Gender statistics are central to policy making in identifying the specific needs of women and men and in designing the right policies to ensure the advancement of gender equality and women’s empowerment. In recent years, Viet Nam has witnessed an increasing amount of gender research as well as the development of gender statistic indicators serving as foundation for more accurate gender analysis. This has contributed to strengthen Viet Nam’s legislative framework and to assess and redress the gender impacts of Government’s policies and programmes. The 2006 Law on Gender Equality, the 2007 Law on the Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence and the 2014 Marriage and Family Law have been adopted. Gender has been mainstreamed in several laws such as the 2015 Law on Civil Status, Law on Elections, State Budget Law, Law on Promulgation of Legal Document. However, Viet Nam still face challenges in mainstreaming gender into sectoral policies due to the unavailability of sex-disaggregated data. More efforts are still needed to improve gender analysis and the collection of sex-disaggregated data in order to support evidence-based policy development and monitoring.

UN Women is looking for national consultants to support MOLISA develop a Gender Statistics Profile of Viet Nam titled “Women and men in Viet Nam: facts and figures” through the collection, consolidation, analysis and presentation of data from available GSO surveys and data provided by line ministries, as follows:
