1. INTRODUCTION
German Red Cross (GRC) is part of the world wide Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. As a humanitarian organization, GRC assists victims of conflict and disaster as well as people affected by social or health related crisis. The Red Cross Movement provides assistance to vulnerable people without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven principles of the Red Cross movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. In Vietnam GRC is supporting its local partner, the Vietnam Red Cross (VNRC), to implement projects in the field of Disaster Relief & Rehabilitation, Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation, Water & Sanitation and Capacity Building.
Currently, GRC and VNRC are implementing the project “Building urban resilience in South East Asia”, funded by European Union humanitarian aid (ECHO) and coordinated by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) at Regional level. One of components in this project is to raise public awareness for Disaster Risk Reduction in urban context in five wards of Quy Nhon city. For this, a KAP survey will be implemented in February 2017 to identify the main gaps in knowledge, attitudes and practices related to disaster risk management among different populations, especially the vulnerable groups of the 5 wards. These findings will be the basis for designing effective activity campaign, selecting relevant means of communication and adapting key messages for target groups in Quy Nhon.
2. PURPOSE
GRC is seeking for a consultant to:
i. Review and comment the sampling strategy developed by GRC for the KAP survey
ii. Review and provide inputs for the design and encoding of the KAP survey questionnaire
iii. Conduct statistical analysis of the KAP survey data
3. Outputs/ deliverables
- Finalized sampling strategy for the KAP survey
- Finalized KAP survey questionnaire with efficient encoding system compatible with e-survey soft-wares
- Data analysis of KAP survey results in excel or SPSS or any other analysis tools available and applicable
- Presentation of key findings (original version in English and copy in Vietnamese)
4. Duty Station & Proposed Timeline
The consultant will be home-based and the presentation will be done in Hanoi in the GRC office.
Activities & Timeline:
Finalization of the sampling strategy by the 12th January
Finalization of the KAP survey questionnaire by the 12th January
Presentation of key findings by the 22nd February
5. Selection Criteria
Essential:
- 3-5 experience/knowledge in conducting both quantitative/qualitative researches/surveys, especially in KAP study
- Demonstrated ability and skills to analyze and report research findings
- Good knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and SPSS software
- Good command of English (written and oral)
- Ability to meet required date of report’s submission
- University degree in social sciences and statistics
