DIRECTOR OF TRAINING AND SUPPORT

Mission for the Role
The Director of Training and Support will be responsible for developing and executing Teach For Vietnam's vision for training and supporting Fellows as transformational teachers in the classroom and community and as transformational leaders who continue to work to address educational inequity in Vietnam after their two years of teaching.
Important Note: Require strong English teaching/ pedagogy experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Pre-Service Training Design
- Work with several other advisory board members and specialists to develop a feasible plan and materials to train Fellows as teachers prior to their two-year service in the classroom; the plan will be showcased to several stakeholders such as governments at different levels, the Ministry of Education and Training, corporate partners, university partners, potential Fellows and the general public
- Strategize and come up with a strong training plan and materials covering relevant education philosophy and pedagogical concepts that will get buy-in from several of the aforementioned stakeholders
Pre-Service Training
- Oversee planning and execution of pre-service training for Fellows
- Recruit, train, and manage high-performing team of Leadership Development Officers (LDOs)
- Develop training calendar, content and manuals
- Develop and oversee budget for pre-service training
- Work alongside LDOs to execute pre-service training, including facilitating sessions and bringing in external resources as necessary
Ongoing Training and Support
- Plan and ensure effective ongoing training and support for Fellows:
- Determine priorities and measures of success for Fellows and students
- Continue to train and manage Leadership Development Officer team
- Oversee training calendar for Fellows and communication to Fellows
- Create and implement systems to effectively measure student impact and evaluate the effectiveness of training and support for Fellows
- Provide information and briefings as necessary to whole team and external parties
- Develop an ambitious and feasible vision for alumni impact and plan for implementation
- Identify critical sectors and roles through which alumni can make systemic impact on educational inequity
- Liaise with diverse stakeholders across multiple sectors (including academic, development, policy, and corporate) in order to build leadership pathways for alumni
- Seek out and create opportunities for professional exposure, development and mentorship during their two years of service to prepare Fellows for success as alumni
- Cultivate and maintain strong and positive staff and Fellow culture
Other Duties
Because we are a start-up organization, every staff member in our organization is expected to pitch in as needed outside of his/her department as well. This would include, for example, helping with the selection of Fellows, supporting our recruitment effort, and executing other strategies essential to the success of our mission.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from reputable university (Vietnam or international)
- 7-10 years of prior experience in providing professional training in education:
- Developing curriculum in English, educational sector OR
- Developing and executing training modules for teachers OR
- Teaching/supervising teaching as a principal
- Desire to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, results-oriented culture
- Strong alignment to Teach For Vietnam mission, vision and core values
- Exceptional written and spoken communication skills in English
- Fluent communication in Vietnamese
- Two professional references
